The Daffodil Club

Our retiring offerings for April Services will be for The Daffodil Club, which runs from Easterhouse Parish Church.  The club has been running for 30 years and some of our members attend the club.  It provides hot meals and friendship for the Elderly in our community and is a lifeline for many. The running of the club by 2 co-ordinators is solely charity funded from organisations and many volunteers

The Club provides hot meals and valuable care to vulnerable pensioners but only has enough money left in reserve to continue operating till August.  A widespread drop in funding to charities across Scotland, married with rising running costs, has combined to push it to the brink.  It costs around £10,000 each month to run the services which include a hot meal, physiotherapy, chiropody, and a hairdresser; some people suffer from dementia and some from diabetes or other disabilities. For many the club is often the only thing they have to look forward to, they forge friendships and enjoy a meal and a blether Monday to Friday each week.
