First Sunday of Advent 2023
Today, Sunday, 3rd December, 2023, was the first Sunday in Advent. It was a nice occasion for Ross who was asked to light the first candle by Edson.
I know he would be very pleased to be involved. Well done, Ross.

We are delighted to announce the three designs, which will be printed as Christmas Cards for distribution to our Church members, were designed by the following children:
Evie Campbell Age 9 (Noel)
Poppy McLellan Age 9 (Merry Christmas)
Sophie Wilson Age 11 (Silhouette Sleigh)

The Thrift Shop is open the first Tuesday of the month from 10:00-12:00, from September to April, selling many different items from household goods, clothing, books and toys. The items for sale are donated by people throughout the area and many excellent bargains are to be found.

St Andrew’s host a Praise Service on Sunday evenings from 7 to 8 pm. followed by tea and coffee. It is a lovely and uplifting service to which all are welcome.

The Fellowship enjoyed their closing lunch on 31st July, 2023, which also included a sing-song and some dancing. A great time was had by all who attended. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a successful session. There were between 20 and 30 people who attended each week who certainly enjoyed themselves.

The Angus Stuart Trophy for Bible Knowledge was begun in honour of Mr Stuart’s many years of faithful service to the 137th. It is quite a difficult competition and requires a lot of work by the boys. The winner this year – for the second time – is Ethan Hooper.

The Glasgow Battalion Indoor Kurling Competition took place at Ibrox Parish Church on Saturday, 25th February, 2023.
A great time was had by all the boys who attended. The 137th had two teams taking part and had excellent success with one team winning the competition and the other one came fourth. Well done to all the boys who took part.

On Saturday, 12th November, four of the boys from the 137th Junior Section attended the Glasgow Battalion Uni-Hoc Competition and had a great afternoon – especially as they won a bronze medal. The boys pictured below are Jacob, Jay, Dylan and Charlie. Well done boys and thanks to Glasgow Battalion for a fun afternoon.

Ross McKendrick recently celebrated his 90th Birthday – a fantastic achievement. On Sunday, 9th October, 2022, the congregation attended a birthday celebration for Ross after church. We were treated by an introduction by Alistair, enjoyed the fabulous lunch catered by some of the ladies in the church, and then by an amusing and interesting speech from Ross, which also included a humourous song which was greatly appreciated.

Here is our Christmas worship video, featuring the children from St Andrew’s and Mure Memorial. We hope you enjoy viewing and hearing the children.
Thanks to everyone who participated and to Peter for the editing.
