COP26 POETRY SUCCESS
One of our Junior Sections boys, Steven Bennie, achieved great success when taking part in the Lord Provost’s COP26 Poetry Competition, by reaching the final of the competition.

Nativity Service 2021
The children and staff of the JAM Club portrayed the Christmas story for us today with singing and dancing. It was greatly enjoyed by the congregation. Below are a few pictures of the occasion. Many thanks to all the JAM Club.

Easter Card Design Activity 2021
Three cards were chosen to be used to be deliver a message to the congregation. Look for them dropping through your door soon.
The successful designers from left to right are: Grace McKibbin, Stuart Paterson and Katie Cross. Well done to you all.

Youth Fellowship
The Youth Fellowship is for young people from S1-S6 and they meet in the big hall on Sunday evenings, September through June, from 7 to 9 p.m. There is also a morning edition, YF:AM, which meets Sunday mornings 10 to 11 a.m.

Poppy Stone Painting Display 2020
Well done to everyone who painted poppies on to stones. It is a fitting tribute for the armed forces. Many thanks to the Patrick family for displaying them to nicely.

Ringing Support for the NHS
Jack found an excellent use for the BB Junior Section bell. Ringing his support for the NHS. Well done Jack! Hope you remember to keep it clean.

Sheila Blackwood’s 50 Years of Service to Girl Guiding
A surprise celebration was held in Mure Memorial on Saturday, 29th February, 2020, to mark the 50 years of outstanding service that Sheila has given to the Girl Guides. Her fellow Guide leaders laid on a fantastic afternoon tea which was enjoyed by all.

BB Junior Section: Indoor Sports Competition 2020
The 137th Glasgow Company attended the Glasgow Battalion Indoor Sports competition at the Emirates Arena on 16th January, 2020. The boys had a great time taking part in the impressive Emirates Sports Arena. This is an exceptionally competitive event which is very well attended, and success is hard to come by. All the boys did very well, and two of them reached great success.

Boys’ Brigade Junior Section Dalguise Weekend 2017
From the 28th to 30th April, 2017, 15 Junior Section Boys’ and Staff enjoyed an excellent weekend at Dalguise. The weather was cold but dry and a great time was enjoyed by all the boys. Canoeing, Archery, Orienteering, Survivor, Challenge Course, Burn Walk, Quad Biking and Giant Swing were the daytime activities. Evening activities included Wacky Races and a Quiz Night.

Scavanger Hunt
The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade organised a fun Scavenger Hunt for the community to enjoy, on Sunday, 17th September, 2017. Over a hundred adults and children took part walkiing round Garrowhill, collecting treasure and hunting for clues around the neighbourhood.

Malcolm’s Leaving Lunch 2017
Our minister, Rev. Malcolm Cuthbertson, for the last 6 years and 7 months has moved on to pastures new at Rutherglen West and Wardlawhill. A hearty lunch at the Rabbie Burns Halls was enjoyed by both Mure Memorial and St Andrew’s congregations to mark this occasion.

Mure Access Project Spring Fayre 2017
On the 25th March, 2017, Mure Memorial held a Spring Fayre in aid of the Mure Access Project, which is to improve access to the church for people with mobility problems. Many people from the church and the Garrowhill community attended on the day which made it a fun and enjoyable time for all.

BB Eastern District Indoor Games 2017
The Boys’ Brigade Junior Section Eastern District Indoor Games Competition was held at the halls of Shettleston Old on Saturday, 25th March. Great fun was had by all the boys who attended. The 137th had a particularly good day, with one group of boys coming 1st and another group of three, who had joined up with two other companies, came 2nd.
