BB Company Section: Queens’ Badge 2018
On the 16th March, at the Anchor Boy and Company Section Display of the 137th Glasgow Company Boys’ Brigade two young men were rewarded for all their hard work by the presentation of the Queen’s Badge Award.
Congratulations go to Ross Wallace and Ryan Goudie.
Well done to them both!
GB Juniors: Christmas Movie Night
The girls enjoyed a Christmas Movie Night with pizza and popcorn – all dressed in their jammies on Wednesday, 14th December, 2017. A great time was had by everyone
Boys’ Brigade Junior Section Hallowe’en Party
The boys and staff enjoyed much fun at this year’s Hallowe’en Party. Activities included Dunkin’ Donuts, Dooking for Apples and The Mummy Game – as can be seen from the pictures. Click on them below to show full image.
Christmas Nativity 2017
Sometimes we all get caught up in the commercial side of Christmas and it was nice to pause for breath and remind ourselves that we are celebrating Jesus’ birth. Below are some pictures of the cast. (Mary and Joseph with baby Jesus and the donkey).
Boys’ Brigade Junior Section Dalguise Weekend 2017
From the 28th to 30th April, 2017, 15 Junior Section Boys’ and Staff enjoyed an excellent weekend at Dalguise. The weather was cold but dry and a great time was enjoyed by all the boys. Canoeing, Archery, Orienteering, Survivor, Challenge Course, Burn Walk, Quad Biking and Giant Swing were the daytime activities. Evening activities included Wacky Races and a Quiz Night.
Scavanger Hunt
The Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade organised a fun Scavenger Hunt for the community to enjoy, on Sunday, 17th September, 2017. Over a hundred adults and children took part walkiing round Garrowhill, collecting treasure and hunting for clues around the neighbourhood.
Ringing Support for the NHS
Jack found an excellent use for the BB Junior Section bell. Ringing his support for the NHS. Well done Jack! Hope you remember to keep it clean.
Sheila Blackwood’s 50 Years of Service to Girl Guiding
A surprise celebration was held in Mure Memorial on Saturday, 29th February, 2020, to mark the 50 years of outstanding service that Sheila has given to the Girl Guides. Her fellow Guide leaders laid on a fantastic afternoon tea which was enjoyed by all.
BB Junior Section: Indoor Sports Competition 2020
The 137th Glasgow Company attended the Glasgow Battalion Indoor Sports competition at the Emirates Arena on 16th January, 2020. The boys had a great time taking part in the impressive Emirates Sports Arena. This is an exceptionally competitive event which is very well attended, and success is hard to come by. All the boys did very well, and two of them reached great success.
Chalking the Step 2020
On Sunday, 5th January, 2020, Mure Memorial held a Chalking the Step blessing after the morning service.
This was in collaboration with visual artists Gardner & Gardner and the Moderator who invited every congregation to gather at the front steps of their church and pray a blessing on everyone who will cross the threshold of their building in 2020.
John Coutts – Bon Voyage
After many, many years of service within Mure Memorial, it was good for the congregation to be able to wish farewell to John as he moves down to Southampton to live with his daughter.
