GIFT SERVICE 2019

On Sunday, 8th December, 2019, Mure Memorial had a very successful Gift Service where presents were collected for two charities – Glasgow the Caring City is a charity which supports children in crisis here and overseas – and Glasgow East Women’s Aid who provide support for women, children and young people who are affected by domestic abuse. Nativity Play 2019

The children of the JAM Club entertained the congregation on Sunday, 22nd December, 2019, with a rhyming version of the Nativity Play. The actors were accompanied by a Junior Choir who sang with great voice and enthusiasm. Well done to all the children and to the staff for the organisation of such a wonderful play.

Boys’ Brigade Queen’s Badge Award 2019

On the 9th May, 2019, at the Junior and Company Section Display of the 137th Glasgow Company Boys’ Brigade, Callum Greenshields was presented with the Queen’s Badge, in the usual tradition, by his mum.

Congratulations go to Callum for this great achievement.

Diamond Wedding Celebrations

On the 17th March, 2019, the congregation joined together to celebrate two couples reaching the major milestone of 60 years of marriage.

The congregation enjoyed a lovely lunch and thanks go to all who contributed and helped provide the meal.

Glasgow Battalion Bible Knowledge 2019

The Boys’ Brigade’s Glasgow Battalion Bible Knowledge Competition was held in Kenmure Parish Church on Saturday, 24th February, 2019. The competition was well attended and yielded great success for the 137th with the team coming in first. The successful team below were Mason McCutcheon, Adam Forrester, Callum Patrick and Cameron Arthur.

Co-operative Community Fund Presentation – MAP

The Mure Access Project which is providing improved access to our church building received a fantastic boost of £4126.36 from the Co-operative Community Fund from our two local Co-operatives both located in the Barrachnie shops area.

Church members were delighted to be presented with the cheque from the two managers of the shops, Lee and Neil, and all members are very grateful to them and the community for their support.

BB Junior Section: Glasgow Battalion Indoor Sports 2019

The Glasgow Battalion held an Indoor Sports Competition for Junior Section boys on the 18th January, 2019. There were over 100 boys taking part in the various events at the Emirates Arena. All boys tooks part in events of 60 and 200 metre races, shot putt and long jump. There was a also a team relay race and tug-of-war. The boys enjoyed themselves immensely.

BB Junior Section: Bible Knowledge 2023

The Angus Stuart Trophy for Bible Knowledge was begun in honour of Mr Stuart’s many years of faithful service to the 137th. It is quite a difficult competition and requires a lot of work by the boys. The winner this year – for the second time – is Ethan Hooper.

BB Junior Section: Glasgow Battalion Kurling 2023

The Glasgow Battalion Indoor Kurling Competition took place at Ibrox Parish Church on Saturday, 25th February, 2023.

A great time was had by all the boys who attended. The 137th had two teams taking part and had excellent success with one team winning the competition and the other one came fourth. Well done to all the boys who took part.

BB Junior Section: Indoor Uni-Hoc Competition

On Saturday, 12th November, four of the boys from the 137th Junior Section attended the Glasgow Battalion Uni-Hoc Competition and had a great afternoon – especially as they won a bronze medal. The boys pictured below are Jacob, Jay, Dylan and Charlie. Well done boys and thanks to Glasgow Battalion for a fun afternoon.

Ross Mckendrick’s 90th BIrthday Celebration

Ross McKendrick recently celebrated his 90th Birthday – a fantastic achievement. On Sunday, 9th October, 2022, the congregation attended a birthday celebration for Ross after church. We were treated by an introduction by Alistair, enjoyed the fabulous lunch catered by some of the ladies in the church, and then by an amusing and interesting speech from Ross, which also included a humourous song which was greatly appreciated.
