GB Juniors & Brigaders: The Humane Society 2016
William Graham from The Humane Society visited the Juniors and Brigaders and taught us about their work.
Mary Mathieson 90th Birthday Celebration
The congregation, family and friends of Mary joined together after the church service on 20th November, 2016, to celebrate her reaching the age of 90. A good lunch was enjoyed by all and many thanks go to all the team who delivered a magnificent spread. Mary below blew out the candles and everyone sang happy birthday to her, which she really loved.
MAP Cabaret Night
here was a fundraiser for the Mure Access Project on Saturday, 8th October, 2016, which was greatly enjoyed by all who attended. More importantly there was £1005 raised towards the project, which seeks to provide better access for people who are less mobile.
Many thanks to Twilite for the entertainment and to Garrowhill Bowling Club for allowing us to hold this on their premises.
GB Juniors: Paramedic Visit
The girls enjoyed a vist on Wednesday, 9th November, from two paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The girls learned about the Ambulance Service, how to administer CPR and were also treated to an on board experience in an ambulance.
Malcolm’s 30th Ordination Celebration
After a rousing service the congregation joined Malcolm for lunch to Celebrate. A first class lunch was enjoyed to which many thanks go to all who worked so hard to make this a success.
Bill Russell
On Sunday, 14th June, 2015, Bill Russell was presented with a certificate to mark over 40 years service as our Church Organist at Mure Memorial. His many years of faithful service to Mure Memorial has been greatly appreciated over the years. It is with great sadness that Bill passed away on the 27th April, 2016. Mure Access Project Spring Fayre 2017
On the 25th March, 2017, Mure Memorial held a Spring Fayre in aid of the Mure Access Project, which is to improve access to the church for people with mobility problems. Many people from the church and the Garrowhill community attended on the day which made it a fun and enjoyable time for all.
BB Eastern District Indoor Games 2017
The Boys’ Brigade Junior Section Eastern District Indoor Games Competition was held at the halls of Shettleston Old on Saturday, 25th March. Great fun was had by all the boys who attended. The 137th had a particularly good day, with one group of boys coming 1st and another group of three, who had joined up with two other companies, came 2nd.
Bible Reading & Art Competitions 2017
The Eastern District Boys’ Brigade Junior Section Bible Reading and Art Competitions were held in Kenmure Church on Tuesday, 28th February. The judges found it difficult to separate the boys in both competitions
BB Company Section Camera Class 2017
The Company Section boys enjoyed a three-week course photographic course which culminated in many nice pictures.
Morrison’s Community Champions Burns Supper
On the 25th January, 2017, 10 people from Mure Memorial were invited to enjoy a Burns Supper at Morrisons in Baillieston along with some others. Morrisons aim to celebrate hard work and dedication shown by people in the local community and in this case for our church.
